Canada Day!

Canada Day!

This July 1st, 2020, will present a very different Canada Day for us all. There might be congested parks, and people might be scrambling for parking spots, picnic tables or entry to their favourite restaurants. Many, though, will be keeping their celebrations closer to home - as close as their backyards. My family and I will be celebrating just this way, with traditional Canadian cuisine as we try to play Canada’s official summer game: lacrosse.

For a little celebratory etiquette, I’m hoping my family members will be mindful of our neighbours as we celebrate, and not be too rowdy. I also share this hope for our community as a whole. If we choose to picnic outside, let’s give others room to enjoy the space as well. When taking photos, only those within our immediate group should be the focus of the captured moment. Let’s pick up after ourselves before we leave, to keep the area pleasant for all. Finally, let’s have fun reconnecting with friends and family, and create as many good memories as we can on this day.
